You guys know how I am about salty sweet.
And I’m sure you know how I am about trail mix and chocolate. So basically what I’m saying is, this recipe is a no-brainer when it comes to combining everything I love.
This recipe contains only three base ingredients, one of which I had never worked with before: cocoa butter.
If you hover on the sidelines of the raw vegan dessert blogosphere like I do (read: I am obsessed with her), you’ll have heard a LOT about cocoa butter. And even if you aren’t a crazy blog fangirl, you’ll probably recognize the ingredient as the core of white chocolate and the sole creaminess factor in most non-dairy chocolate.
A couple weeks ago, my obsession, Dana of Minimalist Baker, posted these cheesecakes. I’ve adapted her cheesecake base with enormous success, and her use of cocoa butter kind of sealed the deal for me. I ordered some off of Amazon, and here we are today, with this luxurious dip.
This dip comes together in maybe 10 minutes, if you’re being generous and counting pistachio-shelling-time. Melt your cocoa butter, stir in some cocoa powder and liquid sweetener, mix in your add-ins, and voila. Time to devour enjoy graciously!
I paired this dip with Blue Diamond Almonds’ line of Nut Thins. I’d seen these in the grocery store next to the king-sized candy (please don’t judge me) and was always curious, so I was delighted when they sent me some to try. The salty nutty goodness is gluten-free and pairs amazingly with this velvety sweet dip!
Another big thanks to Blue Diamond Almonds for shipping me these Almond Nut Thins! This post is sponsored by Blue Diamond Almonds, but all expressed opinions on Whisk & Shout as well as affiliate social media pages are my own.Â
- 2-3 oz cocoa butter
- ½ cup cocoa powder
- ⅓ cup maple syrup or honey
- pistachios
- peanuts
- dried fruit (I used cranberries)
- chocolate chips
- Melt cocoa butter in microwave at 1 minute intervals until it looks like oil.
- Stir in cocoa powder and maple syrup until smooth.
- Immediately stir in add ins.
- Let sit to thicken.
- Serve with crackers (I love the Blue Diamond almond thins because they're GF!), graham crackers, or fruit!

Oh yesss…. that cocoa butter, the magical ingredient that is extracted from raw cocoa beans…sold in beauty products instead of keeping it in our chocolate were it should be! (and some is, as in high quality coverture). What a delicious and creative dip, Medha! I think it’s time for some chocolate! 😀
Hahaha exactly!
