It may be in the 90s in Connecticut this week, but it’s September and that means pumpkin.

I saw my first orange leaves today and all of a sudden I couldn’t wait for it to be fall.
Moving to New England for school at the very beginning of fall is going to be something special and I couldn’t be anticipating it more. At the same time, I totally understand clinging to summer as it begins to slip away.
So why not a dessert that’s kind of in the middle?…

My first memory of Japanese food involves udon.
My dad used to take me to an Asian market/restaurant by our house that was surprisingly authentic. We would split a vegetable croquette (Think potatoes and vegetables, deep fried. I know) and each get a noodle dish. He would always get soba noodle soup (buckwheat noodles), and for some reason, I’d get zaru udon….

Peaches are kind of the ultimate summer fruit. (Sorry mango, you win almost every other time, but let peaches have this one)

Oh, kitchen fails. When your counter has been floured, wiped down, and floured again and you are slowly depleting your brown sugar supply with nothing to show for it.
Sometimes, (especially when it comes to vegan baking) things (yes I’m talking about you, crumbly linzer cookies!) don’t work out. So I like to beat the complicated-baking-frustration with simple but delicious foods….

There are a lot of fancy-schmancy desserts I want to try, but I’m a little intimidated by.
Macarons, for one. Homemade puff pastry. Croissants. Donuts….
